JUNO Award winner Steve Hill, the hit man of one-man bands sets out for Canadian tour
Multi-award winning guitar hero Steve Hill is set to take his fiery one-man-band show on the road from coast to coast this fall, kicking things off on September 17th in New Brunswick and working his way to Nanaimo, BC, before returning to Ontario and Quebec to wrap up the tour in November.
2015 has been quite a year for guitarist Steve Hill. In January, Hill was awarded four coveted Maple Blues Awards for Electric Act of the Year, Guitarist of the Year, Recording/Producer of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. In March, he topped it off by winning the 2015 JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year for his latest album “Solo Recordings – Volume 2.” If that weren’t enough, Hill recently won five awards at the Lys Blues Awards in Quebec.
In June, the Montreal native had the honour of supporting American blues legend, Buddy Guy at the Jazz Winnipeg Festival to standing ovation as part of the sold out show. Hill also shared the stage with his friend and contemporary, Matt Andersen at the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival to rave reviews.
A limitless and hard-working showman, Steve Hill is an artist at the top of his game. Throughout his powerful and intense shows, Hill performs standing up while singing and playing guitar, with his feet playing bass drum, snare drum, hi-hats and, with a drum stick fused to the head of his trusty guitar, any other percussion within reach. With roots in blues, rock and a little bit of country, Hill performs a mix of his original songs and blues classics. A recent review of Hill’s live performance called him “explosive … in a class by himself.” (Calgary Herald)
“This is my third Canadian tour in the past year and I am grateful for the support I’ve received from audiences and the press. I enjoy crisscrossing our beautiful country, meeting old friends and making new ones everywhere I go”, says Hill. “I’ve been spending a lot of time in the studio lately so it’s time I play these new songs in front of an audience before I put the finishing touch on Solo Recordings Volume 3, slated for release in March 2016.”
Hill’s reputation as an exciting and engaging performer has provided him the opportunity to showcase his talents at some of Canada’s biggest music festivals, including Montreal Jazz Festival, Ottawa Bluesfest, Kitchener Blues Festival, Jazz Winnipeg Festival, Saskachewan Jazz Festival and more. Steve Hill is clearly at home on the stage, inviting audiences to catch a glimpse of musical madness in the form of blues and rock ‘n’ roll.
